The goal of our center is to have a place where philanthropist, advocates, organizations and family and friends of patients with a Neurological illness could donate monetary funds which can support Investigator initiated clinical trials. By having funds, we could optimize proper treatments in order to improve outcomes for patients with neurological diseases.

A neurological disorder is a disease affecting the brain, nerves, or muscles. Neurological disorders can cause weakness, numbness, incoordination, dizziness, blindness and difficulty speaking or thinking. At PNA Center for Neurological Research we study many neurological disorders, however, our focus at this time is on amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, multiple sclerosis, neuropathy and myositis.

Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), often referred to as "Lou Gehrig's Disease” is a degenerative disease caused by the death the nerve cells that control voluntary muscle movement. This disorder causes progressive muscle weakness and atrophy throughout the body result in paralysis and death.

Myositis Awareness Ribbon

Myositis

Myositis is a rare disease in which the immune system attacks healthy muscle tissue. Persistent inflammation causes progressive muscle weakness that can range in severity from mild to debilitating. It is unknown what triggers the immune system's attack. Myositis can take several forms, including dermatomyositis, polymyositis and inclusion body myositis.
