what we do

The goal of our center is to have a place where philanthropist, advocates, organizations and family and friends of patients with a Neurological illness could donate monetary funds which can support Investigator initiated clinical trials. By having funds, we could optimize proper treatments in order to improve outcomes for patients with neurological diseases.
Retrospective Analysis of Treatment and Prognosis for Neuropathy
Neuropathic pain is traditionally one of the most challenging of pain syndromes. The standard treatments for peripheral neuropathy depend on the cause; however, each person responds differently to treatment and some patients are still left with some degree of constant residual pain. Small fiber neuropathies can be caused by several disorders of metabolism; however, the cause often remains a mystery. Although several well run Phase II and III trials have looked for specific efficacious therapies, there have been no published reports on which therapies illustrate the most benefit used in combination or adjunctively. In addition, little data has been reported on specific side effects that are seen with such combinations. We propose to analyze neuropathy data from patient’s who are treated at Phoenix Neurological Associates, LTD. We will look at clinical symptoms of patients who suffer from painful neuropathy to determine the possible cause and those that are treated, which type of treatment is most beneficial, and which drug combinations are most effective, and which may cause the most side effects. From analyzing a selected population of patients, we hope to derive some information about what may be the best treatment for patients with similar clinical symptoms. This information will be useful for possible treatment as well as for routine patient care in the future.
